“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” Ephesians 4:11-16
Dear reader, please note the Authority of the Pastor is not primarily from an Ordination Board or from any organisation. But from the LORD Himself who gave the five-fold ministry office for the building of His body. Also, those in the office are not ordained there because of their ability to speak well or their physical appearance. Prophet Samuel nearly missed the ordained king because of this. (1 Samuel 16:6-7)
Remember when the mother of James and John requested that her two sons be given a privileged place to sit on the right and left of Jesus? Jesus said to her, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to take the suffering that I am about to take?” Matthew 20:23 – “So He said to them the, “You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptised with the baptism that I am baptised with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father.”
The Office of Christ is not a position of pastoral responsibilities you are appointed into but ORDAINED by God for some. Not all are Kings and Presidents or Prime Ministers. Those in the office are like those to rule their nations but our assignments are to build the Spiritual to rule the Physical. It is not open to campaign for the electoral board; ONLY those called to hold pastoral responsibilities like Levites in the Church are subject to such. Zechariah the father of John the Baptist was a pastor and he was assigned to his duty.
What we experienced is Ordination by God but witnessed and confirmed by Spiritual Authorities.
Jesus at Jordan River for His baptism by John the Baptist, a Voice spoke to confirm to man who Jesus was on earth “My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”
No matter what your office is in Christ, a Voice of authority is needed and relevantly so to speak over you.
Finally on authority and power, please note, your Pastor may not be the “Jim Jim Pastor” meaning not with much charisma, he or she may not look sophisticated, not physically handsome or pretty as sisters are now in the spiritual assignment too. They are GIVEN as a gift of Jesus for you.
This morning I saw again from 2 Kings 13:14, Elisha was sick to death but even in that sickness Joash King of Israel still went to him for he recognised the anointing is not limited to physical condition. The treasure is in earthen vessel.
Remember the law of recognition and never despise the gift of God through Christ over you. Your Pastor may not look or act like the Pastor of your friend, please learn to celebrate the gift of God through Jesus for you.
May the purpose of Christ for placing you under a Pastor be made known in your life and may you be favoured greatly as you serve your local church.
