What Has Sin and Forgiveness Got To Do With It

Ladies and gentlemen, we are at a time in life where no one can medically explain the specific roots of some sicknesses and diseases. There is no amount of medicine taken that cures anymore. There is no amount of painkillers that removes body pain. Visiting a home sometime ago, I was in shock when I saw how much medicine a believer had to swallow to deal with sickness, yet they were not healed. Then I came to a conclusion, without controversy that the word of God is supreme.

Beloved, when we take a step back, we will see that the problem of ill health is far greater than medicine. It is far greater than merely going to the operating theatre.

It is a ‘soulish’ matter. It is a matter of FORGIVENESS!

“Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the name. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven” James 5:13-15

From scripture above, if some are sick as a result of sin and all we are doing is anointing them, sending or “selling” handkerchiefs to them or even going for personal surgery, what do we think the result of the sick saints will be?

A sick person was told that the sickness was as a result of sin and he flared up hysterically! Rather than taking biblical medication, this person prefers herbal medication. One is free through the Cross without any side effects. The other is not free; it cost a few pounds per prescription with dangerous side effects to the body. (Please read side effect of medicine before you take them)

The word of God says that even if the sickness is caused by sin, you shall be forgiven. The question is this – how are we to know if your sickness is caused by sin?

1. By personal confession
2. Discernment by the Holy Spirit

A person whose sickness is as a result of sin knows i.e. sexual sin outside the will of God leads to sickness, abuse of body through illegal substance etc… A life of deceit and all manner of unfaithfulness can also lead to sickness.

As a believer, it is not enough to ask for “prayer” it is important to confess your sins and be forgiven so that healing can manifest. I am of a conviction that there is no sickness that cannot be cured because the Blood of Jesus atoned for our sin!

A person confronted with crisis in life and told of sin and forgiveness often responds with a negative attitude by saying “what has sin and forgiveness got to do with my condition?”

In our Adamic nature, we tend to cover up things that are detrimental to our progress. But beloved, nothing is covered except what the Blood of Jesus covers. God hates what sin does to us, the Redeemed of the Lord. It is time for transparency so that you can receive your healing.

Enough of being used as a dumping ground for medicine! Enough of being used as an experiment by the pharmaceutical industry!

I am sure if we exercise half of our faith in the word of God as we do in medicine we will be people with a testimony like the Israelites in the wilderness without sickness.

When we talk about forgiveness, we are referring to a gift which is powerful enough to release a man from the prison of offence. A gift given in order to unlock the door of guilt and condemnation and a gift received to bring about healing. Jesus healed a paralytic man after he forgave him of his sins Luke 5:17-26.

It is so important that it is mentioned in the Lord’s Prayer, “and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors” Matthew 6:13. After forgiveness is received and given, we can then ask not to be led into temptation and be delivered from evil. Forgive those who offend you regardless of what they did, knowing that your forgiveness with Christ is conditional to your forgiveness of others in your life.

May today be the day you choose to forgive and live free from sickness and infirmities.
