Weight, oh weight

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2

The body is not the only place you will see excessive weight but also at the airports. As I travel often, I see many travellers in distress over their luggage. Dragging their bags and suitcases because of the weight and broken wheels and worse still is when passengers have to unpack to avoid excess payments or having their luggage being billed heavily.

Whichever way you see excess weight, it is costly and expensive if not dealt with quickly!

Ladies and gentlemen, if you can be honest right now, you will realise that you spend more time getting rid of your excess weight in your body through dieting and exercising than you’ve ever spent in putting the weight on.

Excess weight and burdens are not from The Lord.

As we embark on the tenth month, I implore you to begin a stock take of your life.

Look into your heart and see what needs to be taken out. What are the issues that are not relevant to your progressive end in 2014.

What are the weights on your conscience and heart.

Is it the weight of guilt and condemnation? The word of God says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1

So get rid of it all. Stop rewinding the tape of your past life, listen to the message from God for today and look into the bright future that God has for you.

Another weight to get rid is the weight of regrets.

Regret has weight and it has a word. “I wish I had done this and that…” ladies and gentlemen your wishes cannot change what happened but your choice of today can propel you into a greater future.

Walk away from the weight of sin. Once you have confessed your sin, put on the garment of righteousness and live for Jesus.

Remain faithful.
