The title almost says it all.
I remember listening to a Joyce Meyer message and she said some of us need to get married to Jesus instead of just dating Him. This got me thinking – are we giving God our best? Are we serving God part time?
As I thought deeply and reflected on what Joyce Meyer said, I opened my Bible to Ephesians 5. Verses 1 to 5 commands us to walk in love, verse 1 talks about being imitators and verse 2 concentrates on imitating Christ, our chief example – as Christ has loved us and given Himself for us. Just like in marriage the man and woman both give themselves to each other at the altar. Paul used the marital relationship to explain the relationship between the Church and Christ which is a type of the marital relationship. The verse which sticks out to me is verse 25, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her.” We have to give ourselves to the Lord just as Romans 12:1 says, “…that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”
We have to give God our best just as He was willing and always has given us His very best. Think of it this way, are we serving God only for what we can gain? Or simply for whom He is?
We have to be selfless putting others always before ourselves and loving God with everything we are. Matthew 22:37 “Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'”
Don’t be a part time lover but be a FULL TIME LOVER OF GOD!
