We Appreciate God’s Goodness And Celebrate God’s Unusual People.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is our month to appreciate the goodness of our God and to celebrate the unusual vessels through which God’s love had been at work, to bless others. Looking back, we see God’s defining moment when these unusual vessels were chosen and sent to care and equip believers to be Christ’s agent of change. We are drawing closer to another of God’s defining moment in our generation and beloved the vessels for this defining moment are still the unusual people.
What is a defining moment?
It is a moment in time that history changes; positively or negatively. Since it is God’s defining moment, it is positive for the righteous and negative for the sons of darkness.
The unusual vessels for the moment are not mighty in the sight of men. They are not the ones that have it all together. They are just chosen! Despite their mess and despite their faults, they were chosen before the foundation of the world. They are the chosen ones that God Himself has kept for such a time as this.
Paul reminded the church in 1 Corinthians 1:26-29
For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.
From the first book of the Bible, every defining moment or turning point in the history of mankind, God raised up individuals who will lead the people to show those around them that He is God.
In Genesis we read about Noah and his house, with the seven who qualified because of Noah’s testimony before the great flood. Even though they were not perfect in themselves, because the sinful nature was still evident and in the man chosen by God, nevertheless, he became a man of God.
We read about Abraham, a friend of God who was an unusual man with an unusual character. His faith in God proved his right standing with God, even though not perfect. The Bible tells us his flaws and weaknesses, however through Abraham a new movement began that led to the birth of a nation and a special race called the Jews. They were a prosperous race through God’s covenant with Abraham and the world is still blessed through his race.
We read about Joseph. A man who became next in line to Pharaoh, who was never educated (but taught by God), introduced banking and economics to Egypt in a way they have never known before. He helped to preserve the land for Pharaoh, Jacob and his family, so the word of God could be fulfilled that sixty six family members went to Egypt according to scripture (Genesis 46:26).
At every moment of change, there were unusual vessels as an ARMY OF GOD!
The unusual people used by God for His defining moment in history are never accepted by others. There is nothing significant in the eyes of men but they are chosen so that they themselves will not boast in their own strength but in God who chose them. Even Jesus our Lord said “A prophet is not without honour except in his own house (among his people).” Matthew 13:57.
The word of God reminds us always that the Purpose for doing this is so “that no flesh should glory in His Presence” or say I am the one who did it. David said, “…through God I have scale through the walls…” and we are to say what we do is by His grace.
Let him who glories glory in this, that you know the Lord (Jeremiah 9:24)
It was unusual for men that were common fishermen unlearned in language and uneducated would be used by Jesus to bring God’s defining moment in the history of the church which will be the same for the end time church. God’s defining moment is about to happen and God’s unusual saints are being called right now all over the world!
The Harvest is here!
God’s unusual vessels will make this happen through the Holy Spirit. Heaven is summoning those who have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying.
Characteristics of Unusual Vessels
1. These ones will have a deep yearning in their spirit for more of God.
There is the healing river of God in His temple and we are no longer content with just the ankle experience (Ezekiel 47:1-12). The water reaches the knees but we should not be content with ‘knee experience’. The water came up to the waist and that’s not enough. The water became a river in which we must swim. It shall be that every living thing that goes wherever the river goes will live. The unusual men and women will carry this river and wherever they go, there will be healing – not only physical but spiritual and emotional healing.
2. They are holy
Make your relationship with Jesus sacred. Make your marriage sacred. Make your congregational time sacred. Our gospel songs are sacred. Our instruments for worship are all sacred. They are dedicated to God. Your body is sacred. Be careful not to mutilate your body with tattoos, piercings and needles, all because of fashion trends (Leviticus 19:28). If you have mutilated your body with tattoos before you accepted Christ as your Saviour I believe you are forgiven.
Your family and money are sacred. Your relationship with your pastor and church family are sacred. This is why you cannot just sit under any pastor and pastors too, must know that the relationship with sheep is sacred to God. The enemy is doing all he can to defile these things and make them common.
These unusual ones will be known by their stand for holiness. Have you noticed that holiness is rarely talked about in churches? We spend time talking about homosexuality yet we are as ungodly and immoral as them. I am not condoning homosexuality but all ungodliness is a sin.
3. They fear God
These ones say to themselves, “How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?” Sexual sin to them is a great wickedness (Genesis 39:9). Sexual sin is allowing another person living in you without God’s permission, similar to an alien to entering His Temple. They are unusual vessels for the end time that cannot be bought as they are mindful of the price of their redemption. They eat their food with gladness of heart without greed out of fear for God (Acts 2:43-47).
4. They are not ashamed of Jesus Christ and the Gospel
Paul said “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jews first and also for the Greek.” Romans 1:16
Join us as we appreciate the goodness of God through Jesus Christ and celebrate God’s unusual people this month!
