Faith is Adventurous

Ladies and Gentlemen, in light of what is happening in the world spiritually, socially and economically, there is tendency to believe there is no more hope for you. There is hope for you and God’s purpose for your live shall surely come to fulfilment!

“God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.” Numbers 23:19-20.

The word of God will surely prosper you, regardless of your present condition or circumstance. The word of God always runs swiftly to accomplish His purpose, but before manifestation, you must understand that God is a God of order, not disorder.

When God promised the children of Israel a land flowing with milk and honey, buildings they did not build and cistern they did not hewn, He commanded Moses to send out men to spy the land of Canaan, which He promised to give to them. These spies were leaders over their tribes. Number 13:1-3.

The twelve men sent were men of great reputation, whose words carry weight and their report could not be denied by their tribes. On return, they all agreed that what God said was true – the land was truly rich. They even brought back fruits; pomegranates, figs and cluster of grapes big enough to be carried on the shoulders of men. However, because of the inhabitants in the land, the same men who saw the land flowing with milk and honey gave up on God giving them the land as promised. “Then they told him (Moses) and said “we went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. Nevertheless, the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified, and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.” Numbers 13:27-28.

I have come to realise that we all have the tendency to easily give up on God.

God is always there but we walk away from His love and truth to amass problems for ourselves.

Looking at the account of the spies, the tribes chose to believe the report of their leaders, which contradict the awesomeness of God and His ability to deliver what He said. At this point I will to say to you – be careful whose report you believe.

In this time of economic crisis, when many are losing faith due to lack of material substance, it is easy to seek alternative help to keep up appearances, forgetting that no condition in life is permanent!

If God never gave up on His children, if He listened and heard their cry in the past, He will listen and hear yours now.“And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, “What ails you Hagar? Fear not for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is. Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation.” Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water, and gave the lad a drink.” Genesis 21:17-20.

Instead of giving up on God, I pray that God will open your eyes to see whether where you are right now is where you should be. I pray for you to see what He has readily provided for you, instead of joining yourself with the people God calls ungodly according to Psalm 1:1 (Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful).

I also pray that you gain a heart of understanding to know that you are a workman in progress, so don’t give up on God! Your mess today is a message of deliverance for someone tomorrow. Your testimony is the tests of faith that you passed with the help of the Holy Spirit. One of the reasons for giving up on God is because many people focus on their past and refuse to let it go. Even when God has forgiven them, they struggle to forgive themselves. By the way, if God forgives you and you cannot forgive yourself, what you communicate to God and others is pride and arrogance, indicating you are bigger than God Himself!

Now in order not to give up on God, the following are important notes to take:

• Keep the word of God in your heart. Give priority to what God says regardless what men say or the way your situation appears to be. God is committed to His word. Even when we are faithless He remains faithful, He cannot deny Himself. Deuteronomy 6:8, Psalm 119:11, Proverb 6:21, 1 John 1:1-10. Consider how much time we, including our children, spend on technology, especially on social media: Facebook, Twitter etc. Let us all return to basics and go back to believing the word, regardless of our circumstances.

• Learn to say NO without feeling guilty, so you will not be a victim of fleshly desires that lead to strife and an ungodly lifestyle. 1 Timothy 6:6-11.

• Understand that regardless of the choices you make in life, God still loves you; therefore consider making choices that keeps you at HOME WITH GOD! The reward is more than you think. After all, Jesus loved His own till the end. John 13:1.

• Remind yourself of the miracles of the past. Look in the mirror and speak to yourself. Remind yourself and even rebuke your unbelief. Remember we are OVERCOMERS through the blood and the word of our testimony. Revelations 12:11.

Finally do not give up on God! Embrace your process of maturity. Yes, the suffering is painful but the word of God says the suffering is for “a while” after which, you will be made perfect, established, strengthened and settled! 1 Peter 5:10.
