Do Not Try To Win…Just Live!

Ladies and gentlemen, there is a winner’s instinct in all of us, whether we like to admit it or not.

We love winning and we love to be on the cutting edge. As important as it is (and there is nothing wrong with it), the process of winning and being on the cutting edge is worth looking into and can sometimes be questionable. Some of us like to show others that we are knowledgeable and along the line, this can become our Achilles heel.

Why do you want to win so badly that you ignore the rules of engagement and how is it those that matter to you become irrelevant and through it you stop living?

What use is winning a contract from your competition that you can no longer enjoy time with your family, serve in your local church or enjoy a holiday? You cannot even enjoy a good meal which your money paid for! You stop living because you have to work hard to deliver on the contract. Oh, there is time for everything under heaven!

There is time to sow and time to reap and in all these different times, there are seasons too and in all these, we must never stop living!

Living for God goes beyond winning but please bear in mind we must not lose our winning attitude. It is about getting to know our purpose and living a life for Christ in order to see that very purpose fulfilled. Jesus said “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” Matthew 16:26.

For some in leadership you ‘win’ as the leader, however you have no relationship with your team. You win the argument you have with your friend but you lose that friendship. You win the argument against your wife or husband but your marriage suffers as a result.

What is the point of winning but losing meaningful friendships simply because you are not mature enough to carry the relationship along? I know some friendships will inevitably end but never let it be because you are so adamant on winning.

It is best to win God given relationships rather than to win arguments in relationships. What use is the money when I cannot enjoy what it brings? What use is praying to get the contract when you cannot enjoy the life of Christ and serve Him with His life in you?

Life is for living…It’s more than winning!
