By Faith
Ephesians 2:1-10 NKJV
1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the [a]course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Beloved this convention, I believe is to remind us ALL that OUR journey OF SALVATION THROUGH JESUS Christ began BY FAITH. Faith is the means which enable us to connect to the Father through the Son. It is the first GIFT I believe God gave to us at the point of believe in the finished work of the cross.
Romans 1:16-17 NKJV says
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
Romans 1:17 Easy To Read Version says
The good news explains how God accepts people as right with himself. He does this when they believe in Christ. It is only because of their faith. Nothing else. This is what was written in the Bible long ago: ‘Everyone that God accepts as right will live, because they trust him.’
1: The word of God that you heard must be believed.
Either through the written word in the Bible or spoken to your spirit by The Holy Spirit. Faith is activated by the word of God. There is no faith without the word of God and there is no faith without the believe.
Hebrew 4:1-2 NKJV says
1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.
Hebrews 4:2 Amplified Version says
For indeed we have had the good news [of salvation] preached to us, just as the Israelites also [when the good news of the promised land came to them]; but the message they heard did not benefit them, because it was not united with faith [in God] by those who heard. Hebrews 4:3-10 says 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; 5 and again in this place:“They shall not enter My rest.” 6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, 7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.” 8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
God said it, I believe it and I obey it.
Romans 14:19-23 NKJV says
19 Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with [g]offense. 21 It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak. 22 Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. 23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.
When you read Hebrews 11 and see the names of everyone listed that did exploits by faith, to me it proves that living by faith does not mean you are perfect but as they believed and trust in God so you and I are to trust Him “who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all we could ask or think according to His power that is at work in us.” Ephesians 3:20
Beloved I want you to know this truth and believe it and declare what you believe over your life. If it is By faith I stand, it is by faith I shall achieve all that God declare over my life. Oh there are promises of God over your lives and it is By Faith you can activate those promises.
Those on the Hebrews 11 were inspired by the word they heard from God and they obeyed Him..
Walking by faith requires complete obedience.
Hebrews 11:4 NKJV says
By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.
It was because of his faith that Abel made a better sacrifice to God than Cain, and he had evidence that God looked upon him as a righteous man, whose gifts he could accept. And though Cain killed him, yet by his faith he still speaks to us today.
3: Faith is not active if trust is not an ingredient in the action.
The reason why we do not obey sometimes is because we do not trust God to deliver what He promised to do or it’s getting longer to happen.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV says
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Amplified Version says:
5 Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. 6 In all your ways know and acknowledge andrecognize Him, and He will make your paths straight andsmooth [removing obstacles that block your way].
Trust and obedience are also keys to walking and working by faith.
4: Living by faith also requires you wait.
By faith we must Wait quietly
Psalm 62:5 NLT says
Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.
Psalm 37:7 says:
Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.
Psalm 130:5 Amplified Version says:
I wait [patiently] for the Lord, my soul [expectantly] waits, And in His word do I hope.
